My Brothers,                                                                                                                                                                                    2012 is upon us and as the incoming Worshipful Master of Star Lodge 115 I would like to start by thanking Brother Brian Ahrens for the excellent example he set for me in 2011 and as well as Brothers Darrell Fremont, Dave Aves, and Lane Shaver for installing myself and all the 2012 officers.

In my few short years in Masonry I have enjoyed the craft at Star Lodge 115 and hope that in the coming year I will see a few more familiar faces and a few more new faces. This year I would really like to place an emphasis on getting more of our approximately 80 members to attend meetings more regularly and assist the craft in all of our activities in any way you can. Many hands make light work. Whether you would like to come to enjoy fellowship, to learn more about masonry and degree work, or just to get back into the swing of things our door is always open.

In the past we have had several brothers that for whatever reason have decided not to come after they held a fairly good attendance record. Several reasons I have heard have been the “dress code,” too much pressure to learn too quickly and perhaps even a disagreement with a fellow brother. As far as the dress code you can wear swimming trucks and a cowboy hat for all I care. Don’t worry about a suit, just try and look presentable and come be part of the craft. The pressure to learn has eased somewhat at Star 115 as we have had several brothers step up and take on new challenges to assist in degree work and assuming new officer positions within the lodge. I do not prescribe to the baptism by fire approach and I will personally assist you in any way I can and I know there are other brothers in the craft that will be more than happy to impart any knowledge or help that you may desire. As far as any personal issue one brother may have with another “Harmony being the strength and support of all societies, more especially of ours.” Gentleman, we are brothers and if there is something that cannot be taken care of outside our walls I will be more than happy to deal with it within them. I encourage you to bury the hatchet and return to our fray.

In closing I would ask that this year we focus on filling up our sidelines with the craft, learn through masonry together, and most importantly have fun doing it. I look forward to being your Master for the upcoming year and in advance I would like to thank you all for your support and assistance. Also, please pay your dues in a timely manner so Brother Secretary can attend to his duties with Grand Lodge as soon as possible.  Hope to see you all in 2012!!!
